Position Summary

BDAC currently seeks a Project Associate with experience in supporting community-based programs, projects, and initiatives. the execution of organizational, equity, and engagement strategy for BDAC’s internal projects and external consultancies.

Reporting to the CEO of Betty’s Daughter Arts Collaborative, the Project Associate is trained and poised to design, facilitate and evaluate numerous community-engaged programs and initiatives.  The Project Associate should be skilled in popular education modalities and must be able to activate participatory, qualitative, and quantitative methodologies. Candidates for this position should be experienced in the strategic design and management of community-based programs, projects, and initiatives.  

Applicants should be skilled in the areas of:

  1. Evaluation and impact assessment;

  2. Strategic planning (non-profit and community-based organizations);

  3. Arts and Culture strategy;

  4. Project and program design;

  5. Project and program management;

  6. Administrative leadership;

  7. Technical writing; and, 

  8. Initiating and sustaining community partnerships. 

Essential Functions

Administrative Support

Manage day-to-day operational aspects of projects, including planning, scheduling and monitoring activities to fulfill identified project requirements. Duties may include:

  1. Data entry;

  2. Correspondence: Draft emails, letters, spreadsheets, in preparation for internal team, clients, and community partners;

  3. Meeting preparation: Draft agendas, take notes, complete follow up tasks;

  4. Write copy;

  5. Presentation creation (must have access to Canva);

  6. Schedule meetings, work sessions, workshops, residencies, and other community engagement events; and, 

  7. Task Management: Utilize internal systems to track and monitor tasks, projects, and client deliverables via Asana, Google Calendar and Slack.

Strategic Support

  1. Collaborate with the CEO and clients to advance project goals;

  2. Perform industry/academic/professional specific journals and draft reports (must have access to academic libraries and journals);

  3. Track strategic goals devised in concert with clients;

  4. Generate critical analysis in the form of finalized reports; and,

  5. Participate in the development and management of projects.

Evaluation Support

  1. Co-create evaluation strategy and tools;

  2. Create and administer surveys;

  3. Design and lead focus groups and story circles; and, 

  4. Generate critical analysis in the form of finalized reports.

Qualifications

  1. Bachelor’s degree; 

  2. Three years of collaborative leadership, facilitation, design, and evaluation of community-based arts and culture programs, initiatives and projects;

  3. Possess an interest and some understanding of evaluating community-engaged arts and culture programs using participatory, qualitative, and quantitative methodologies;

  4. Be a self-starter and self-directed worker;

  5. Highly skilled and experienced technical and business writer, specialized in editing, and copywriting;

  6. Extensive experience utilizing research and evaluation tools;

  7. Strong critical thinking and creative problem-solving skills;

  8. Ability to work within tight deadlines;

  9. Extensive knowledge of Google Suite, Asana, Slack and Canva; and,

  10. Proven experience as a Project Associate or relevant role.

    Typical Work Conditions

    This is a hybrid contract position.  Hiree must have access to the aforementioned software, equipment and wifi necessary to complete the job.  Hiree must be able to be on camera, answer the phone and be present for in-person events when planned with enough lead time.  Hirees may be required to interface with the public or be outside for events.  Applicants will likely need to be able to stand, walk/move, lift objects, etc. as components of essential job functions.
