Maya Simone Zeigler:

Art and Survival Fellow

Maya Simone Zeigler is a NYC-based interdisciplinary artist, dancer, choreographer, art administrator and educator from the South. Their work centers queer, Black diasporic emotional and spiritual connections as told by our ancestral lineages, physical bodies, and dreams of this and other worlds. Studies in anthropology, film and dance inform their work of unearthing how brain-body-spirit connections influence the lives of queer and trans people of color.

Maya Simone currently dances with Sydnie L. Mosley Dances and has been a member of the collective since 2019. They have collaborated and performed in dance projects and experimental theater works presented at Queensboro Dance Festival, Corkscrew Theater Festival, Theater Mitu and Lincoln Center Education. They have presented solo work at the Fertile Ground by Green Space Festival. They are a Hambidge Fellow and also work as an arts administrator and advocate, currently serving on the Dance/NYC Junior Committee.
