Sha’Na Lynnette Smith (Shay Smith) is a multi-passionate artist and director from Houston, Texas. She began her career at Jack Yates High School where she was first cast in a production of The Amen Corner by James Baldwin. Diving deeper in the study of theatre, she continued her education at Prairie View A&M University where she discovered her desire for storytelling beyond simply being on the stage. With her art and her life Sha’Na aims to create and hold space for the existence of Black life and stories while remembering and challenging what it means, has meant, and will mean to be Black, woman, and connected to spirit in America.
