Project: Power of Perception Curricula + Residency Project
Client: The Laundromat Project
The LP amplifies the creativity that already exists within communities by using arts and culture to build community networks, solve problems, and enhance our sense of ownership in the places where we live, work, and grow. The LP envisions a world in which artists are understood as valuable assets in every community and everyday people know the power of their own creative capacity to transform their lives, their relationships, and their surroundings.
The Laundromat Project contracted BDAC to design and pilot a curriculum in collaboration with the award-winning film, America's Promise. The result was Power of Perception (PoP), a high school and community media-action curriculum and residency project designed to nurture the voices, experiences and creative brilliance of youth and community members through truth-telling and media-making. The curriculum and residency project ran for two iterations at Brooklyn Community Arts and Media HS.
